Held at Crown Palladium Ballroom, this years ING Grand Prix Ball welcomed guests on a traditional red carpet and served Dom Perignon and canapés with Ferrari and other luxury sports vehicles on display, while the signs strictly read ‘do not touch’...
The snapparatzi gathered shots of very few celebrity guests and I could only spot Leo Sayer, blast from the past seventies music sensation! Once the cameras had stopped their flashing and security firmly standing their ground beside some of the worlds most expensive chunks of aluminum, we gave up any hope of taking photos from the other side of the barriers, instead entering the Ballroom to be seated for a laser light performance. What laser lights and electro music have to do with the Grand Prix beats me, the show was impressive after a couple of champagnes. Once the performance had ended and with the lights turned back up, the inaugural speeches and presentations begun
Who knows where the next three hours went, with various (and hilarious) trips upstairs to our Crown Towers crash pad and back to our table in the Ballroom for a bite of entrée, main and dessert. Luckily the company was entertaining as the atmosphere at the Grand Prix Ball was again fairly stuffy... plenty more action on the circuit!
